Annakut and Govardhan puja is celebrated on the same day and time. The second day of Diwali is celebrated as Govardhan Puja in India. Govardhan Puja is also famous for the name Annakut Puja. More than 56 different food items are prepared on this occasion. On this day goddess Annapurna (goddess of food) is worshipped. This festival marks the victory of Lord Krishna on Indra. This day is associated with the story of Govardhan Parvat. This festival is mostly observed in Northern India. People apply tilak and worship the holy cow on this day. On this day people worship Lord Krishna by making his idol from cow dung. It is believed that what we do on this day will be followed the entire year. Govardhan pooja teaches a lot of things and the very first one is, always to do what is correct and God will always help you at any cost.
We should always celebrate our occasions and it is a belief that we should be happy on this day because those who will be sad on this day will remain sad for the entire year, whereas those who will be happy on this day will be happy for the entire year.
